A white filling is a type of filling made from composite resin. Once upon a time, the only material used for fillings was metal amalgam. Patients now have a choice between amalgam fillings and discreet tooth-coloured white fillings.
We can safely replace silver amalgam fillings with white tooth coloured fillings. Dental decay happens when the enamel and dentine of a tooth become softened by an acid attack, producing a cavity (hole).
